Our History

Established in 2005

   Cota's Barber N Style is more than a barbershop. It's the story of a family whose passion for barbering has been passed down through generations, built on craftsmanship, integrity, and a genuine love for serving people.

David and Nancy Cota, both licensed barbers since 1984, were raised in the beautiful community of Moorpark, California. They began their careers working alongside David's father, Robert Cota, at the first family-owned and operated barbershop on High Street, where they proudly served their hometown for over eleven years. It was there that the values of quality workmanship, personal connection, and exceptional customer service became the foundation of the Cota family tradition.

   In 1995, David and Nancy relocated to Palmdale, California, where they continued that tradition by opening their second family barbershop, Clipper Cuts. Joined by their firstborn daughter, Sonya, they built more than a successful business. They created a place where friendships were formed, families returned generation after generation, and a passion for barbering was passed on to their children.

   Then, in April of 2005, a simple visit to the small town of Fillmore changed everything.

Just a short drive from the community where they were raised, David and Nancy instantly fell in love with Fillmore's small-town charm and welcoming spirit. Recognizing the need for a traditional barbershop dedicated to quality service, they opened Cota's Barber N Style with one mission: to provide exceptional haircuts while making every customer feel like family.

   As the years passed, David and Nancy inspired all four of their children to embrace the barbering profession, sharing not only the technical skills of the trade but also the values that had guided their family for decades: hard work, humility, kindness, and taking pride in every haircut.

    After courageously battling a long illness, David passed away in 2015. In the years leading up to his passing, Nancy stepped away from the shop to care for her husband full-time, reflecting the same unwavering love and devotion that had always defined both their marriage and their family.

   During that difficult season, the Cota family came together. Their four adult children and two nephews stepped behind the barber chairs to keep the doors open, ensuring that David and Nancy's dream would continue. 

      Their commitment reflected what Cota's Barber N Style has always stood for: family taking care of each other , and a community worth serving.

In April 2019, Nancy relocated the shop to its current home at 341 Central Avenue, Suite #105 in Fillmore, where Cota's Barber N Style continues to proudly serve the community today.

   Today, more than four decades after David and Nancy first picked up a pair of clippers, their legacy continues to thrive. The traditions, values, and knowledge they dedicated their lives to building have been faithfully passed from one generation to the next, and now to the next again.

    Today, David and Nancy's Adult children including Sonya, and their youngest daughter, Melina, proudly works  at Cota's Barber N Style,  working to continue the vision their parents began decades ago. Joining them is the newest generation of the Cota family. Their granddaughter now serves as a barber as well as Melina's husband and Nancy's nephew. All together carrying forward the family's passion for the craft, while Nancy's grandson, is currently pursuing his barber license as he prepares to become the next generation to continue the Cota legacy.

     What began with Robert Cota behind the barber chair has grown into a remarkable four-generation family legacy. Built on faith, hard work, integrity, and a genuine love for serving others, Cota's Barber N Style remains a place where tradition meets the future, one haircut, one conversation, and one generation at a time.
